2013 The Year of Generous Living!!!!
I haven’t written in a while but want to start back because God has been dealing with me on many things in my own life that I need to share with you all.
I am already looking toward next year and the words that are motivating me are Generosity! I want to live a generous life. I want my life to be overflowing with generous stuff. I want to share this journey with my friends by writing about it and talking about it and encouraging others to live a life of Generosity,
My first step in this is to get a plan. A plan for setting my life on the course of Generous Living! I don’t say this in a bragging way, but I love being a giver. It stems a lot from my childhood. Being the child of a pastor, a pastor that planted churches I grow up with somewhat poor and out of necessity lived many times on the receiving end rather than on the giving end. I always told myself that when I grew up I was going to find a way to be the giver. And although, I am a missionary and still find myself in need, there are ways for me to be more generous.
That being said, the plan is to set a giving goal and look for personal ways for me to meet that goal. The goal needs to stretch me, it needs to be for God’s glory, so it needs to be one that I can only meet with the help of Christ.
Second is what is my goal for? Well it has to be what I am passionate about. So here is what I am going to give $$ for: Missionaries & Pastor’s Families. Why am I passionate about those things? Because, The Great Commission cannot be fulfilled without people being sent. And Missionaries can’t do their job if people don’t give and help them to have the resources they need to stay on the field. And Pastor’s Families because I am one and I have firsthand knowledge of the need. I really challenge you to consider being more generous to your pastor and their families.
Pastors are on the front line. They are the only ones that I know of with a job that they are on call 24/7. Even if we don’t realize it, we (myself included) expect them to be there for us at all times, in every situation. But would it not be great if we sowed into them and freed up their time, so that they would have rest and an opportunity to get alone with Christ and get a direct word from Him for Us? I am passionate about seeing their families healthy. I am passionate about seeing their wayward children restored.
Third is execution! How am I going to meet my goal? I am still working on that part. Maybe there is something I can sell or give up in order to make the money that I need to meet my goal. I am open to any suggestions from those who read this blog. You may know of a way that I can make money, while on the mission field. Please let me know.
So I encourage you to look to 2013 as the Year of Living Generously. I wonder how many missionaries are going to get the supplies they need because, from this day forward, you and I choose to give generously and sacrificially. I wonder how many missionaries will stay on the mission field, not needing to return home for grueling fund-raising trips having to leave their missions, because you’re setting your life on a course of generosity, I wonder how many hungry people will be fed. I wonder how many who have never tasted clean water will get their first glass. I wonder how many children will be rescued from the horror of sex trafficking. I wonder how many people will be in heaven instead of hell, because of your generosity.
I hope this entry didn’t sound too preachy, It was meant to encourage you to go higher with Christ and to experience His generosity in your own life.
More to come on the GOOD LIFE!
